Sisseton’s softball season underway

The Sisseton High School softball season is underway, with the Redmen suffering away game losses to Groton Area (4-15) on Tuesday, Mar. 31, Redfield (0-26) on Saturday, Apr. 11, and Florence/Henry (0-15) on Tuesday, Apr. 14.

No other stats were available at press time.

Sisseton’s first home game was scheduled for Apr. 18 against Baltic but has been postponed with makeup date to be determined. The next home game on the schedule at Brewster-Gunderson Field is set for Monday, Apr. 27, against Hankinson.

Sisseton Boys and Girls Track Teams compete in Mark Ekren Invite at Morris

The Sisseton Redmen Girls and Boys Track Teams competed at the Mark Ekren Invite in Morris on Friday, Apr. 10.

Setting the pace for the Redmen Boys were Carson Fisher, who placed second in the 100 Meter Dash; Brett Hansen, who placed second in the 800 Meter Run; and Ryder Graff, who placed second in the 3200 Meter Run. Five Sisseton Boys place at State B Wrestling; Hawkins brings home State B Championship

The Sisseton Redmen Boys Wrestling Team brought home sixth place at the State B Wrestling Tournament held in Sioux Falls Feb. 26-28, with five Redmen wrestlers placing.

Sisseton’s Holden Hawkins accomplished something no other Redmen wrestler ever has by claiming a state champion-ship two times.

Three Sisseton Girls compete at State Wrestling Tourney

The Sisseton Redmen Girls competed at the State Wrestling Tournament in Sioux Falls Feb. 26-28 -- Clara Iverson at 100 lbs., Isabella Current at 110 lbs., and Maryann Rice at 155 lbs. Vi Anderson also qualified for the State Tournament but was unable to wrestle due to a shoulder injury. The Sisseton Redmen Boys Wrestling Team had seven wrestlers qualify for the State B Tournament at the Region 1B Meet held in Webster on Saturday, Feb. 21. The State B Tournament, scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 26-28, was underway in Sioux Falls at press time.
