Graff takes second at Milbank Cross Country Meet

Ryder Graff took second place at the Milbank Breathe Easy Cross Country Meet on Tuesday, Sept. 3, to open the Sisseton Cross Country season.

Bryan Meyer of Milbank was the medalist of the cross country meet and led his team to the title, followed by Great Plains Lutheran taking second and Webster Area taking third.

Sisseton will travel to Aberdeen on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Sisseton golfers compete in Aberdeen

The Sisseton Redmen Boys Golf team traveled to Aberdeen to compete in the Aberdeen Invite on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Sisseton was led by Luke Nielsen, who tied for 37th place shooting a 92. Bradley Hansen shot a 93 to take 40th, Dana BraveBull shot a 95 to tie for 41st, Cash Opsal tied for 50th shooting a 99, and Carter Stickland shot a 102 to tie for 54th.

Sawyer Sonnenschein of Pierre was the medalist shooting a three under par 68. Ty Lenards and Jaden Solhelm, both of Watertown, tied for second place shooting a one over par 72.

Sisseton Volleyball Team Falls to Groton

The Sisseton Redmen Volleyball Team fell to the Groton Area Tigers on Thursday, September 5, 2024 3-0 (9-25, 20-35, and 18-25) at the Ben Reifel Gym. Sisseton falls to 2-2 for the season, Groton Area moves to 2-1 for the season.

Sisseton will travel to Hankinson, ND on Tuesday, Sept 10, 2024 and host Redfield on Thursday September 12, 2024

Sisseton golfers take third in NEC Meet

The Sisseton Redmen Boys Golf team took third in the NEC Golf Meet held at Dakota Magic Casino on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Bradley Hansen led the way for the Redmen, taking tenth place shooting an 85. Dana Bravebull took twelfth shooting an 87, Luke Nielsen took 14th shooting an 89, Carter Stickland shot a 97 to come in 17th, and Cash Opsal shot a 107 to come in 20th.

Groton Area took first place with a team score of 327. Aberdeen Roncalli took second with a 330, and Sisseton took third with a team score of 358.

Sisseton will travel to Aberdeen on Sept. 3.

Sisseton Volleyball team sneaks by Wilmot

The Sisseton Redmen Volleyball team opened the season with a 3-2 victory (13-25, 26-24, 19-25, 25-19, 15-5) over the Wilmot Wolves on Tuesday, Aug. 27, in Wilmot.

Jade Cameron set the pace for the Wolves with 8 kills, 7-8 serving with 1 ace, 2 digs, and 3 blocks. Addison Heinje added 7 kills, went 12-13 serving, and had 6 digs and 4 blocks. Mya Heinje went 19-19 serving with 2 aces, and had 10 digs.

No stats were available for Sisseton at press time.

Sisseton will play host to Estelline on Tuesday, Sept. 3, and Groton Area on Thursday, Sept. 5.

Sisseton Redmen Compete at State Track Meet

Three Sisseton athletes competed in the State A Track and Field Meet held May 23-25 at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls. Chloe Langager placed fourth in Girls Shot Put with a toss of 38’2” and is pictured below (left) competing and above (third from left) receiving her medallion along with the rest of the top eight. Landyn Steichen came in tenth in Boys Shot Put with a 45’5.75” throw and is pictured below (center). Keondray White came in fifteenth in the Boys 400 Meter in a time of 53.78 and is pictured at right running in the event.

Sisseton Area Strikers compete at Special Olympics Northeast Region Track Meet with several Strikers placing; Kostboth competes at State Meet to win gold medals

The Special Olympics Northeast Region track meet was held in Milbank on May 3.

Sisseton did not go to State as a team due to the conflict with high school graduation, but Juan Kostboth did go to the State Meet to represent the team. He received a gold medal in both of the events that he received first place in at the regional meet.
