FCCLA Teams Up With Sisseton Flower Shop for Caring Rose Week

The Sisseton Flower Shop teamed up with Sisseton High School's FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) chapter to support the Sisseton Food Pantry. Senior FCCLA member Sidney Johnson headed the project that gathered food items and money by selling roses. People within the school and community got the chance to buy a dozen roses for $12 or $10 and two canned goods. FCCLA members sold 153 dozen roses raising $252 and a large box of food which was donated to the local food pantry.

VSO Ceremony Honors Veterans

The Roberts County Veterans Service Office also held a ceremony to honor Veterans on Friday, Nov. 8, outside of the Roberts County Courthouse, with speakers Troy Foster, Commander of the VFW, and attorney Robert Doody of Doody Law Office. 2025 Snow Queen Royalty

Isabelle Skarnagel was crowned 2025 Sisseton Snow queen during the 50th annual Snow Queen Pageant held at the Sisseton High School performing Arts Center on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024. She is the daughter of Michelle and the late Jesse Skarnagel of Claire City, SD. Also crowned during the evenings activities were 2025 Jr. Snow Queen Everleigh Kirk. She is the daughter of Lindsey Hortness and Derek Kirk of Sisseton, SD. The Little Miss Sisseton Angela DeCoteau was also crowned. She is the daughter of Jordyn Kirk and Dylan DeCoteau of Sisseton, SD.

SWO member Bryan Akipa inducted into SD Hall of Fame

Bryan Akipa is a remarkable man. In his quiet way, he has made a loud noise for the promotion of Indigenous art throughout the state, the nation, and even the world. For his contribution as an Indigenous dancer, artist, and flute carver and player, he has received many accolades, the latest of which is his induction into the South Dakota Hall of Fame.

Northeast South Dakota Economic Corporation granted $100,000 from South Dakota Community Foundation

Northeast South Dakota Economic Corporation (NESDEC) recently received $100,000 from South Dakota Community Foundation’s (SDCF) Beyond Idea Grant (BIG) program to expand their Digital Literacy Program. Offered in partnership with the Bush Foundation, the BIG program supports community-based problem-solving efforts in South Dakota.

Chosen to reign over Homecoming activities at Tiospa Zina Tribal School were King Terrance Robertson and Queen Ava German. The Coronation Ceremony was held Monday morning, Sept. 16. Other candidates for Homecoming Queen were Gerica Redday, Serenity Squirrel Coat, Lakota Keeble and Amyah Renville. Roberts County State’s Attorney’s office hires new Deputy

The Roberts County State’s Attorney’s Office has hired Tessa Dalberg as the Deputy State’s Attorney, serving under State’s Attorney Dylan Kirchmeier. Dalberg, the daughter of Melissa and the late Harold Dalberg, is a Claire City native and a Rosholt High School graduate. She is also a May 2024 graduate of the University of South Dakota’s Knudsen School of Law.

2024 SHS Homecoming King and Queen crowned

Sisseton High School’s 2024 Homecoming Coronation ceremony was held Monday, Sept. 2, at 7:00 p.m. at the Sisseton Performing Arts Center. Selected as King and Queen for Homecoming 2024 were Nevada Seda and Alexia Quinn.

This week is Sisseton High School’s Homecoming Week, beginning with Coronaton on Monday, Sept. 2, at 7:00 p.m. The theme for this year’s Homecoming is Dr. Seuss.
