Lighted Tipis bring comfort and hope

A good idea catches on like fire, and the idea of the Lighted Tipis set up by the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate inspired more than 60 people to sponsor the event; inspired 58 community members to volunteer to make it a reality, and welcomed more than 600 people to visit during the two weeks the tipis stood sentinel in SWO Memorial Park.

Sisseton’s One Act Play headed to State

Sisseton High School’s one act play Customer Service by Joseph Sorrentino took first place at the Region Four contest in Aberdeen on Tuesday, Jan. 26, and will be headed to state Feb. 5-6.

On Jan. 12, Gov. Kristi Noem, introduced Geri Opsal, the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Veterans Service Officer, to those assembled for the State of the State Address. Noem commended Opsal for her excellence in outreach to the veterans under her care.
