Seeking Santa Letters……

The Sisseton Courier is currently seeking Santa Letters from kids. Santa’s Mailbox is set up at the Sisseton Courier and the Courier staff will be happy to deliver kids’ requests and best wishes in the Christmas edition of the paper.

The deadline for Santa Letter submissions is Wednesday, Dec. 3. Please include the child’s name, hometown, age and picture along with each child’s letter.

Submit letters via one of the following methods:

• Drop off letters at the Sisseton Courier, 117 E. Oak Street;

• Email the letters to ads @sissetoncourier.com

American Indian College Fund and Pendleton Woolen Mills Student Blanket Design Contest opened Nov. 15

Starting November 15, the American Indian College Fund and Pendleton Woolen Mills, the heritage lifestyle brand, are accepting submissions for sixth annual Tribal College Blanket Design Contest. American Indian and Alaska Native students attending a tribal college or university are eligible to submit up to two designs. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 15, 2026.

Speaker at Browns Valley Public Library on Dec. 4

Doug Ohman, a popular speaker, historian, author and photographer with deep Minnesota roots will be speaking at the Browns Valley Public Library on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 2:00 p.m.

Doug 's talk is Saluting the Civil War – Minnesota's role.  Doug will tell us about the role that Minnesota played in the Civil War, and how important Minnesota was to the Union cause. Hear stories of Minnesotans that served in this incredibly tragic but most interesting chapter in American history.

Doug holds a degree in history and is a true Minnesotan historian and photographer.

Movies of Hope announces its December movie event

On Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., Movies of Hope will be showing the film, THE SECRETS OF JONATHAN SPERRY.

2026 Sisseton Snow Queen Royalty

Piper Goodhart was crowned 2026 Sisseton Snow Queen during the 51st Annual Snow Queen Pageant held at the Sisseton High School Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025. Also crowned during the evening’s activities were 2026 Jr. Snow Queen Harper Hortness, and 2026 Little Miss Sisseton Alaya MacConnell. Running Out of Space to Pile Corn

Roberts County Sheriff’s Office requests public assistance

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, the Roberts County Sheriff’s Office posted the following on the Facebook page:

The Roberts County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s help in locating Joshua Forcier, a Roberts County resident.

Mr. Forcier currently has three active warrants for his arrest and there is also an active petition for emergency mental health commitment. Joshua is believed to be homeless at this time, and due to his current mental health condition, he may be a danger to himself and/or others.
