Highway Patrol announces January Sobriety Checkpoints

The South Dakota Highway Patrol has announced sobriety checkpoints will be conducted in 17 different counties during the month of January. These checkpoints will take place in the counties of Bennett, Charles Mix, Codington, Davison, Hutchinson, Lake/Moody, Law-rence, Lincoln, Meade, Minnehaha, Pennington, Roberts, Sanborn, Spink, Stanley, Walworth, and Yankton.

Sisseton Food Pantry Open January 2 and 16

The Sisseton Ministerial Food Pantry will be open from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on the following date:s

.• Thursday, Jan. 16, hosted by Grace Lutheran Church.

The Food Pantry is located in Sisseton on the corner of First Avenue West and Maple Street, west of Baus Oil.

Movies of Hope Ministry announces January Movie

On Sunday, January 5, Movies of Hope Ministry will be showing the film LIFEMARK at 4:00 p.m. 

This film is based on a true story about a young mom who was faced with the difficult decision of giving up her newborn son for adoption and how his life positively impacted that of his adoptive parents and eventually his biological parents as well. Bobcat Season Reminders from SD Game Fish and Parks

The 2024-25 bobcat trapping and hunting season is Dec. 26, 2024 - Feb. 15, 2025.

Hunters and trappers are reminded that the season bag limit is one bobcat for the Black Hills and East River. and unlimited for West River, excluding the Black Hills. The one bobcat limit for the Black Hills is new for this season. South Dakota Counties and Tribes to enter local winter road conditions into SD511

South Dakota travelers rely on SD511 for real-time travel information, including road conditions, closures, construction, incidents, weather forecasts, and roadway camera images, especially during winter. This year, the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) has partnered with numerous counties and tribes across the state allowing them to directly update road conditions on the statewide SD511 system.

SDSU Extension 4-H launches regional support for county operations

South Dakota State University Extension’s 4-H program is adding a regional system to support county operations and organizations. 

On Dec. 16, 2024, SDSU Extension reorganized operations support into four regions: North, South, Central and West. Each region consists of about 16 counties and is supported by an assigned regional youth educator. Sisseton Redmen place nine wrestlers in top four at NEC in Groton

The Sisseton Redmen Boys Wrestling Team placed nine wrestlers in the top four at the NEC Wrestling Tournament held at Groton on Friday, Dec. 20, after the original night was postponded from Thursday, Dec. 19.
