On Aug. 19, 2020, Katie Hannasch was told she had Stage 4 sarcoma, a cancer of the soft tissue. The prognosis is terminal. Katie and her husband Steve have two children ages three and five. While the couple has been coming to grips with the impact of this diagnosis, friends, family, neighbors, and even strangers have stepped up to help in concrete ways, including a heart-warming fundraiser held May 29, at the 4-H building. The event brought together people from multiple communities to show their love in profound ways.

Those who were unable to attend the fundraiser can still contribute to the mounting medical expenses at Dacotah Bank, in the Katie Hannasch Benefit account.
