Roberts Conservation District (RCD) is pleased to announce Todd Whempner as the recipient of the 2021 South Dakota Soil Conservation Award. Taking after his father, Todd is an active farmer in Roberts County, and is showing his children the benefits of soil health to continue the tradition.

Todd keeps natural resources in mind with the decisions he makes on his operation. He uses a cattle rotation every 30-35 days, which allows those pastures to re-grow, increases soil fertility and forage production, increases resistance to drought stress, as well as weed control. By rotating his herd often, Todd has noticed a higher stocking rate.
