Waubay apartment fire claims life of child


Waubay Apartment Fire An apartment fire in Waubay last week resulted in the death of a three-year-old and the displacement of four families. Firemen responded to the North 2nd Street fire April 10 and found the southeast corner of the apartment building there totally engulfed in flames. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and the incident is being investigated by the Department of Criminal Investigation, ATF, South Dakota Fire Marshal’s Office and Day County law enforcement agencies. ~ Photo Courtesy of Amanda Fanger, Reporter & Farmer

A toddler died in an apartment fire in Waubay last week. The fatality was confirmed by officials and the identity later released by family.

Waubay Fire Chief Adam Jorgenson said the April 10 fire resulted in the death of a three year old and the displacement of ten people from the four unit apartment.
