State years bring more than ‘A Good Education’

Konda Family

Reprinted with permission from the Spring 2020 issue of SDSU’s IMPULSE publication.

Starting with leading trips to the regional science fair on campus in the mid-1980s to the graduation of their youngest child in 2015, Frank and Dinah Konda of New Effington have become so loyal to South Dakota State University you would think they’re alums.

They’re not. Frank, originally of Marion, graduated from now-closed Southern State College in Springfield in 1969, Dinah, originally of Java, graduated from Northern State College in Aberdeen in 1972. Both ended up teaching at New Effington in the fall of 1972 and married a year later—Sept. 29, 1973.
