SD Junior Duck Stamp Winners announced; Area students place

Madison Grimm of Wallace, SD, submitted an acrylic painting titled “Evening’s Enchantment,” which judges selected as the 2024 Best of Show winner in the South Dakota Junior Duck Stamp Contest. An accomplished 17-year-old artist, Madison presented a captivating depiction of a Northern Pintail gracefully perched above cattails in a serene wetland.

On Apr. 19, Madison’s artwork will complete at the National Junior Duck Stamp Contest, along with other state and U.S. territory entries. Scholarships are awarded to the top three graduating seniors and the winning conservation message.

16-year-old Grace Heeren of Sturgis, SD, received Runner-up Best of Show honors with her colored pencil, alcohol marker, and chalk artwork of a mallard in flight.
