Memorial Day Tribute Service conducted by local VFW and American Legion Posts at Sisseton Cemetery

A Memorial Day Tribute Service sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #3342 and the Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50 was held at the Sisseton Cemetery, Veterans Memorial Square, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 27. Also participating were the Legion and VFW Auxiliaries.

American Legion Post #50 Commander Pat Dady served as Master of Ceremonies, and also served as the Speaker. The program included Presentation of Colors by the VFW and Legion Posts, the National Anthem sung by Hank Hanson, an Invocation by Legion Post Chaplain Troy Foster, Pledge of Allegiance led by Legion Commander Pat Dady, a Wreath Laying Ceremony conducted by Legion Auxiliary President Judy Myrum and VFW Auxiliary 1st Vice President Betty Rolstad, a reading of “Flanders Field” by Carlee Moen, a Three Volley Salute by the VFW and Legion Honor Guard, “Taps” played by Sons of the American Legion member Wade Johnson, Benediction by Legion Chaplain Troy Foster, Retiring of the Colors, and Closing Comments by Legion Commander Pat Dady.

Also participating in the program were members of Boy Scout Troop #35. Poppies were handed out to attendees by Auxiliary members.
