LADY REDMEN FINISH SEASON WITH THIRD PLACE AT STATE A TOURNAMENT

Due to winter weather the Region 1A Tournament was postponed until Saturday, Feb. 25 when The Sisseton High School girls basketball team won over Tiospa Zina Tribal School 83-46. They moved on to beat out the Aberdeen Roncalli Cavaliers 67-55 on Monday, Feb. 27 for a slot on the SODAK16 Bracket. The Lady Redmen then beat the Parkston Trojans 59-46 on Thursday, Mar. 2 for a trip to the State A Girls Basketball Tournament to be played at the Watertown Civic Arena. The first team they played against at state was the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers, who had beat them earlier in the season 54-63. The Redmen came out on top at State on Thursday, Mar. 9 with a victory 58-47. They were defeated in their second match up against Wagner 45-63 on Friday, Mar. 10 which sent them to the third/fourth place game on the bracket. On Saturday, Mar. 11 they brought home the third place trophy with a 55-47 win over Red Cloud. The last year the SHS girls basketball team had played at state was in 2012 when they brought home the conso- lation championship. In 2011 the Lady Redmen brought home the state championship which was also played at the Watertown Civic Arena.
