Introducing Roberts County’s new state’s attorney

Dylan Kirchmeier took over as Roberts County State’s Attorney on Jan. 4, 2021 when Kay Nikolas retired from the position. Prior to that, he was Nikolas’ Deputy State’s Attorney, starting in August 2020.

A Webster, SD native, Kirchmeier graduated from the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law in May of 2020, after receiving a bachelor’s degree in political science and government at USD in 2017. He graduated in the top ten percent of his law school class.
