Good riddance to the year of COVID-19!

Typically, we all look forward to a new year, hoping it will be better than the last, but this was no typical year, and all of us can agree that 2020 cannot end soon enough. For an entire year, COVID-19 has dominated the news and up-ended our lives. We’d all like to say “good riddance” to the pandemic… if that is possible.

Wikipedia sums up the year well: 2020 has been a highly disruptive year that has been heavily defined by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to global social and economic disruption, mass cancellations and postponements of events, worldwide lockdowns, worldwide protests, and the largest economic recession since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

The COVID-19 disease was caused by a “novel coronavirus” that likely originated in the Wuhan province of China sometime in late 2019, whether in a military bio-weapons research lab or a feral animal market, we may never know.
