Glacial Lakes Project announces application date

The United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in South Dakota (SD) has announced the enrollment period for the Glacial Lakes project as part of the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). The project focuses on the glacial lakes and streams in Northeast South Dakota, including the counties of Day, Deuel, Grant, Marshall, and Roberts.

The goal of the project is to protect and improve the water quality of glacial lakes and streams to meet all the beneficial uses as assigned by SD, and to protect the water quality of lakes and streams that are not impaired. Additional concerns include erosion, wildlife habitat, degraded plant conditions, livestock production limitations, and soil quality limitations. Interested landowners and agricultural producers are encouraged to contact their local USDA service center for more information and to apply. While applications are accepted year-round, the review date for Fiscal Year 2026 funding is Jan. 23, 2026. For more on this story and many more please purchase a copy of the Sisseton Courier on news stands now or purchase a copy of the E-edtion on this website.
