Ben Pallesen, a native of Sisseton, has been a trooper with the SD Highway Patrol for ten years, and was recently promoted to the rank of sergeant, with responsibility for the Glacial Lakes Squad. The promotion went into effect on Feb. 9, while the ceremony for his pinning was held on Mar. 4 at the Sisseton Fire Hall, with SD Highway Patrol Superintendent Col. Rick Miller in attendance to extend congratulations.

Pallesen has worked in law enforcement in the Sisseton area for more than 14 years. A 2006 graduate of Sisseton High School, Pallesen decided to attend Alexandria Technical and Community College for criminal justice to pursue a career in law enforcement. In order to become a certified peace officer, all graduates must pass the Peace Officer licensing exam. After doing so, Pallesen attended the ten-week basic training at the SD Law Enforcement Training Academy in Pierre.
