Members of the Roberts County Youth Shooters (RCYS) participated in the 2026 Madison American Legion Post 25 BB Gun Championship in Madison over the last weekend in March. Coaches Shane and Lori Braaten took 19 shooters to compete in categories from ages eight to 15, and one in the senior division. RCYS’s shooters stacked up well against all other competitors.

The 12&Up team, calling themselves RC Dairy Queen, took first place out of 27 teams, with a total score of 2380-89 from their subtotal scores in four shooting positions: prone (488-28), standing (458-16), sitting (480-23), and kneeling (478-22). The first score is total points, and the second is the total number of center shots (in the bull’s eye) made at that position.
