It was no April Fools joke as an early spring storm dropped eight inches of heavy, wet snow over the Sisseton area. Some mixed precipitation began on Monday night, Mar. 31, as March roared out like a lion. The snow and winter storm warning began early Tuesday morning, Apr. 1, and lasted through the night Wednesday, Apr. 2, causing schools to be closed for two days and creating hazardous driving conditions throughout the area. Despite the inconveniences, the moisture was welcome in the previously dry conditions.
