Where are they now: Patrick LeClair

“The best thing you can do for him is buy him a computer,” said the physician, referring to the little boy, quietly reading in the waiting room. That boy, formerly of New Effington, is Dr. Patrick LeClair, professor and chairman of the physics department at the University of Alabama. Much credit for the path he took in life goes to his parents, Roy and Fay, who moved heaven and earth to help him discover and pursue his passion for science.

Reaching the rank of a “full professor” is not guaranteed to everyone with a PhD teaching at a university. A potential professor must conduct important research, and more importantly, publish papers that add to the body of the world’s knowledge about his research.
