A Sisseton man was sentenced to ten years in prison with six years suspended on a domestic manslaughter charge involving the death of his infant son.

Johnson Silas Solon Hopkins, 24, pleaded guilty in Roberts County to the charge in the death of a 4 1/2 month-old boy he was caring for while using methamphetamine.

Legally, manslaughter is the unlawful killing of another without malice aforethought.

In a separate case, Hopkins also pleaded guilty to third-offense driving under the influence. He was sentenced to two years in prison and had his driver’s license revoked for one year.

Both sentences will run concurrently, and Hopkins was fined a total of $508.
