Alexis Monroe named SD Art Educator of the Year

Alexis Monroe has been teaching art at Sisseton Middle School since 2007, teaching students the hands-on of various art mediums, always exploring new ways to keep their interest. She recently received the highest honor from her peers. She was selected the 2021 South Dakota Art Educator of the Year by the SD Art Education Association. Her qualifications are impressive.

Alexis is the one who, with her husband Nicholas Blaske, designed and painted the beautiful Sisseton mural on Veterans Avenue, as well as other public art in the community. She is the one whose art students made ornaments for the SD Christmas tree at the White House in 2019… and there is so much more to tell.
